So this technically isn’t Dakotah and Emily’s actual engagement session. They really wanted to schedule their engagement session in the spring (maybe when the trees are blooming!) before their fall 2017 wedding. So it was a surprise when I got a call from Dakotah this fall; he wanted to purchase a portrait session to surprise Emily for her birthday! Emily had been torn on whether she wanted to wait for spring photos or take them at their favorite tree farm this winter.
This Tree Farm holds an extra special meaning to Emily and Dakotah. It’s where Emily realized she was in love with Dakotah; after a trip to Rettig’s Tree Farm, after selecting their tree and cutting it down, while wrapping presents that evening, everything clicked.
They came back to Retttig’s again this year to choose their Christmas tree. This time engaged!
