A Look Back | 2013 Favorites

I mentioned in a previous post that 2013 was kind of a whirlwind of a year. This was my first full year being in Des Moines since moving back from Minneapolis after graduation. Starting 2013 off I really didn’t know what to expect – I knew it would be a challenge to start off in an industry not really knowing anyone, and leaving many of my contacts as I left Minneapolis. But my favorite little city had quite a few surprises for me this year. I was able to make a lot of vendor connections and for those of you that have befriended me I am truly thankful.

I went through and chose all of my favorites from this year. To say I had a hard time narrowing it down to around 100 photos would be a big understatement. I wasn’t expecting it, but as I previewed these images before posting this blog post and scrolled through all of these memories – I don’t think I could have felt any happier. With each photo comes a story and a relationship that I develop with each couple or family and seeing the joy, love, laughter, and emotion in these images just makes my heart literally beat a little faster. I can’t really explain what it is that makes these photos my favorites. It could be the lighting or the expressions on their faces. Or it could be that the image takes me back to what I was feeling that day or that I tried something new and out of my comfort zone and it turned out. These are the images that just make me smile. So in no particular order…
